Artist Project

Just last week we visited MCA Museum, actually I have been to this museum before, because my girlfriend was an intern in MCA Museum, I had the honor to see some works for free. This time my classmates and I came to the MCA museum, we took a bus to the museum, at the gate of the museum took a group photo. After entering the museum, we deposited our bags and went to the fourth floor of the museum, where most of the works were by an artist named Ana Mendieta. What impressed me most about her work was the row of cold weapons (I didn't take a picture because I stood there looking at them for a long time). When I approached the row of cold weapons, I seemed to return to the era when people were still using cold weapons, the feeling made me feel a bit suffocated.   Donald Rodney (b. 1961, Birmingham, England; d. 1998, London, England; lived in Birmingham and London) In the House of My Father, 1996-97 Photograph, chromogenic print on paper, mounted on aluminum In the MCA Museum, what impre...

PUBLIC ART

Image
Agora Artist: Magdalena Abakanowicz Located in: Grant Park Address: 1135 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60605 More than a hundred feet went in different directions, and I felt the modern busy and fast-paced life style inside. When I walk down Michigan Avenue, I often take my eye off these oddly shaped statues that look like feet. When I first saw them, I thought they were repairing something, but I was walking around and I walked in and I realized they were public works of art. These strange feet each face a different direction, and when you stand in front of them it's like walking through a jungle. I think they are like metaphors for people living in the city, who are busy with their own lives and don't care about passers-by. This reminds me of my first trip to Hong Kong. When I was young, I walked on the overpass in Hong Kong. On the overpass, office workers carried handbags one by one and walked fast and steadily.
