Experience at Professor Galina Shevchenko's studio

Image
Before, I visited Professor Galina Shevchenko's studio with my classmates. First, we came to a room full of computers. People inside edited some pictures on the computers. Then we listened to Professor Galina Shevchenko tell us a lot of details about their major and the project. I think this visit experience is very good, let me know more artistic side.

Chicago Cultural Center exhibit

Image
Just last week we visited the Chicago Cultural Center, where most of the art is related to wars like Vietnam and Iraq. We went straight to the fourth floor. Visiting many artworks about these wars, the one that stood out to me the most was the photography "Honoring the Ho-Chunk Warrior" by Tom Jones. These photographs show people performing ceremonies on Memorial Day. The photographs satirize the Ho-Chunk warriors who fought for the U.S. Army in greater numbers than any other group of Americans, but were not yet considered U.S. citizens. From it, I deeply realized the courage and faith of these people to defend their land or country, which made me feel awed.                                                                       "Honoring the Ho-Chunk Warrior"    ...

Just last week we visited MCA Museum, actually I have been to this museum before, because my girlfriend was an intern in MCA Museum, I had the honor to see some works for free. This time my classmates and I came to the MCA museum, we took a bus to the museum, at the gate of the museum took a group photo. After entering the museum, we deposited our bags and went to the fourth floor of the museum, where most of the works were by an artist named Ana Mendieta. What impressed me most about her work was the row of cold weapons (I didn't take a picture because I stood there looking at them for a long time). When I approached the row of cold weapons, I seemed to return to the era when people were still using cold weapons, the feeling made me feel a bit suffocated.   Donald Rodney (b. 1961, Birmingham, England; d. 1998, London, England; lived in Birmingham and London) In the House of My Father, 1996-97 Photograph, chromogenic print on paper, mounted on aluminum In the MCA Museum, what impre...

PUBLIC ART

Image
Agora Artist: Magdalena Abakanowicz Located in: Grant Park Address: 1135 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60605 More than a hundred feet went in different directions, and I felt the modern busy and fast-paced life style inside. When I walk down Michigan Avenue, I often take my eye off these oddly shaped statues that look like feet. When I first saw them, I thought they were repairing something, but I was walking around and I walked in and I realized they were public works of art. These strange feet each face a different direction, and when you stand in front of them it's like walking through a jungle. I think they are like metaphors for people living in the city, who are busy with their own lives and don't care about passers-by. This reminds me of my first trip to Hong Kong. When I was young, I walked on the overpass in Hong Kong. On the overpass, office workers carried handbags one by one and walked fast and steadily.
