Blog #1: My favorite artwork

Woman at the Piano Woman at the Piano was painted by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, one of the leading French Impressionist artists. The reason I like her is because of the details of your painting and how it makes me feel. In this painting, an elegant woman wearing a white and bluish dress is playing the piano. The black piano with candles and golden candle holders is placed at the right side of the painting. A white sheet music is on the piano. A patterned carpet is set on the floor. And a pot with plants is put in the left back corner. Renoir captured the moment the graceful lady is playing the piano while she is alone in a luxurious room by using nuances of light and shadow, cool colors and varied brushworks. What I feel in this painting is that this woman is trying to escape the reality of loneliness, and playing the piano is the only way to do it and it gives her company.
